About Me – Who is the mtncorg?

I am a now retired optometrist of 30+ years who had the amazing opportunity to use my occupational skills on over 50 volunteer trip opportunities around the World. In an earlier life, I served as an Army officer in Europe which gave me the chance to see Life beyond my youthful experiences.

“mtn” = mountain and “corg” = corgi: mountains have been a lifelong passion and I have shared the passion with a few select of these delightful small fellows who have followed me high. Their legs may be small, but their hearts are so very big.

In retirement, I now have an opportunity to re-develop understanding of some of the places I have visited, dipping deeper into interests developed over the years. Here is an ideal place to better craft research, writing, photographic skills while putting them all together. I have a few articles – they may appear on this site – already published and hope to do more in the near future.

Atop Glacier Peak in northeastern Oregon with Toffee, the original mtncorg!
Mt Hood behind Toffee – aka Little Girl – in the sunshine atop Chinidere Mountain, Oregon
The regal Cuillin – aka Little Man – enjoys the flowers of Dog Mountain – Columbia River Gorge, Washington
A wet Ollie – aka OllieBear – looks forward to reboosting his energy supplies before heading high into the mountains
